When using a pressing glue fabric, you need to place it over the area to be pressed, dampen (not damp) the cloth with some water, and press on and off until the cloth is dry.
Also, keep these tips in mind:
- Press your garment while sewing. Always press seams and darts apart or to one side before sewing them. Pressing at the end of the project is different than pressing each seam after stitching.
- Do not iron/press over the pins. Not only are they at risk of melting, but you can permanently twist the fabric where the needle is.
- Pre-wash and iron the fabric before cutting and try not to change the shape of the fabric too much.
- Make sure you are using the correct temperature. You'd be surprised how different this can be. If you iron too hot, you can damage delicate fabrics, but things like linen will never look neat unless ironed.
- If you plan to manipulate your fabric, test the technique on a scrap piece first
